History of the Teen Court Association of Texas

In the fall of 1990, the coordinators of eighteen Teen Court programs from around the State of Texas met and voted unanimously to establish the Texas Teen Court Association (TCAT).

Today, TCAT membership has expanded to include more than sixty Teen Court programs. Many signs point to the Association's growth, the most recent being this web site. Others include obtaining official 501(c)(3) status as a not-for-profit organization and participation in the Texas Municipal League Conference to reach areas that currently do not have Teen Court programs.

Throughout the years, TCAT has supported the member programs with a special camaraderie among its members and a philosophy that includes a sincere willingness to share ideas so that no one has to "re-invent the wheel."

TCAT does not endorse the National Teen Court Center in San Antonio.
