The History of the Teen Court Association of Texas
In 1990 the coordinators of 18 Texas Teen Court programs came together and formed the Teen Court Association of Texas (TCAT). TCAT is a non-profit organization.
Texas is proud to boast the longest operating Teen Court program in the nation – Odessa Teen Court, which has been in operation since 1972!
Throughout the years TCAT has grown to more than 60 member courts and supported the creation and establishment of Teen Court programs across Texas. There is a special camaraderie amongst members a philosophy which includes a sincere willingness to share ideas so that no one has to ‘reinvent the wheel’.
The Teen Court Association of Texas is not affiliated with nor does it endorse the National Teen Court Center in San Antonio, Texas.
